मंत्र – Mantras are sounds, syllables, vibrations or group of words in Sanskrit language to obtain psychological and spiritual powers. Man means mind, and tra means vehicle or instrument: a tool to transport/transform the mind from one state to silence state. Mantras now exist in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism, and sounds as per its existence.
According to astrology, the positions of the nine planets in the twelve constellations of the zodiac and their movements are considered to be quite significant. The nine planets ‘Navagraha’ affect every aspect of human life. They play an important role in the activities, physical and mental health and life of any individual. The unfavorable positioning of any of these planets can be the cause of problems, bad health, and stagnation for many people. However, there is a solution to avoid the ill effects of the position and movement of the ‘Navagraha’ in our lives. Navagraha mantras (or stotram) are simple mantras which work as powerful healing tools to reduce the negative effects of any of the nine planets. These mantras are Hindu holy hymn addressing the nine planets.
The Navagraha or 9 planets, their transits, and positions in the birth chart form the basis of Vedic Astrology. The Navagraha include Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Brihaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), and the shadow planets – Rahu and Ketu. Our ancient sages found that the careful study of these planets can reveal the past, present, and future of any individual and accordingly, designed the system of Vedic Astrology.
Each of these planets has its own unique personality and characteristics. They can individually, and in combination with one or more planets, can give positive or adverse impact depending on their positioning at the time of the birth of an individual, and on their subsequent transit during the individual’s life. Navagraha Strotra is a sacred hymn dedicated to these 9 planets. Chanting or listening to these mantra can help reduce the adverse effects of Navagraha and increase their positive blessings.
